Port Harcourt - Following Wednesday's ruling of the
Court of Appeal, which nullified his election,
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has
proceeded to the Supreme Court to appeal against
the judgement, reports Vanguard.
Wike has directed his lawyers to appeal the ruling of
the appellate court, which ordered fresh
governorship election in the state within 90 days.
Wike in a press release shortly after the judgment
was delivered said he disagrees with the judgement
and would exhaust his constitutional right by
challenging the judgment at the Supreme Court.
He noted that he remains the duly elected governor
of Rivers State pending the determination of his
appeal by the apex court.
Governor Wike called on all his supporters and the
people of the state to remain calm as justice will be
done at the end of day.
He assured the people of the state that he will use all
constitutional processes to protect the mandate they
freely gave him.
